LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed Khan and eight other party activists in the Jinnah House attack case. The ATC judge, Arshad Javed, announced the verdict and granted bail to the nine suspects involved in the case.
The court approved the bail requests for PTI activists Sanam Javed Khan, Robina Jameel, Afshan Tariq, Ashma Shuja, Shah Bano, Faisal Akhtar, Qasim, Ali Hasan, and Hussain Qadri. The court ordered their release, granting bail against surety bonds of Rs 0.1 million each.
Previously, the authorities placed Sanam Javed Khan and 12 other women leaders from PTI on physical remand over the Jinnah House attack case.
Violent clashes erupted across Pakistan following the arrest of former Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan at the Islamabad High Court in May. Consequently, protests occurred in various cities, with PTI workers expressing agitation over their leader’s arrest. The situation led to security concerns and incidents like attacks on army installations and the injury of a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) during law enforcement operations.
IHC Scheduled To Consider PTI Chairman’s Bail Plea On September 25 In Cipher Case
Meanwhile, The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled a hearing for the bail plea of the former prime minister and PTI chairman in the cipher case.
Authorities apprehended PTI Chairman Imran Khan on August 5 after his conviction in the Toshakhana case. The registrar’s office has released the cause list for the upcoming week.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq will preside over the hearing for the PTI Chairman’s bail application, scheduled for Monday.
On September 12, the Islamabad High Court concluded its deliberations on a petition filed by the PTI chairman, challenging the law ministry’s decision to conduct the trial in the cipher case at Attock jail.
