ISLAMABAD: In response to reports of Afghan refugees not receiving their possessions upon leaving the country, Islamabad police has taken action by suspending three officials. The Inspector General, Nasir Akbar Khan, became aware of complaints regarding this issue and initiated a response.
Consequently, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) operations suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shalimar police station, the administrative officer, and the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) involved in the matter. Additionally, the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer has ordered a departmental inquiry to investigate the actions of these officials.
Following the expiration of the voluntary return deadline on November 1, authorities began detaining refugees and relocating them to holding camps, where they are held until deportation can be arranged.
Safe City Islamabad Teams Up With Sindh Tax Department For Streamlined E-Challan System
In another development, Safe City Islamabad has recently established a connection with the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department, enabling the issuance of electronic traffic violation tickets, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Islamabad police.
This integration was prompted by the discovery of multiple vehicles displaying Sindh number plates that were breaking traffic regulations within the federal capital. Previously, this presented a challenge as their information was not accessible in the Safe City E-Challan system, impeding the issuance of e-challan citations.

According to the police spokesperson, this collaboration with the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department will significantly simplify the process of issuing e-challan tickets to those who violate traffic laws. Additionally, stricter measures have been put in place to address habitual traffic law violators and individuals who fail to settle their e-challan dues.
