The Islamabad police claimed they will offer foolproof and world-class security to the New Zealand cricket team throughout their visit to Pakistan.
The national team will be hosting the Black Caps for an upcoming white-ball series, with their arrival scheduled for next week.
Although a Geo News report cited police sources stating that the Islamabad police lacked resources to provide security for the series, the police department did not refer to the information but instead tweeted that it had flawlessly ensured the highest level of security during the English cricket team’s visit and the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League.
According to Islamabad IGP Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the ICTP will play a significant part in providing seamless security, in conjunction with other stakeholders in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Concerns about the police’s ability to provide security due to limited resources led to the Election Commission of Pakistan briefly postponing elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Afridi has not represented Pakistan since aggravating his knee injury during the Twenty20 World Cup final in Australia in November 2020.
The 22-year-old missed subsequent series against New Zealand and England but made a comeback in the Pakistan Super League, playing a vital role in Lahore Qalandars’ championship-winning campaign last month.
Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who was rested in the T20 series against Afghanistan, have also been named in the squad.
Cricket Schedule: Lahore to Host First Three Games from April 14-17, and Rawalpindi to Host the Last Two T20s and Opening ODI.
The five-match series will end in Karachi on May 7.
