In reaction to Monday’s suicide bombing at the Peshawar Police Lines, tight security measures were taken in Islamabad on Tuesday.
According to security sources:
Islamabad has been placed on high alert, with extra security precautions taken at critical places like the President House, Prime Minister House, and Parliament Building, among others.
Furthermore, all of the capital’s entrance points have been strengthened.
Snipers have been stationed at each point. When travelling, identity cards and other necessary papers should always be carried.
These security measures were put in place to prevent and respond to any sabotage attempts.
The Sindh Inspector General has also directed officials to issue security advisories throughout Karachi, as well as instructions for patrols and spot inspections.
Peshawar Blast

On Tuesday, The death toll of the suicide blast in Police Lines mosque in Peshawar surged to 90.
According to security officials:
The suicide attacker was in the front row during the prayers when he blew himself up, hurting hundreds of worshippers giving Zohr prayers.
Shafi Ullah Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar, stated 44 worshippers were killed.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the Peshawar suicide bombing.
During the Zohr prayers, the suicide attacker was in the mosque’s front row.
He blew himself up, killing two policemen and injuring hundreds of worshippers giving Zohr prayers.
Eyewitness
According to an eyewitness, he was on his way to the mosque when the suicide bomber struck.
He stated:
“It was a powerful explosion, and smoke engulfed the blast site.”
After the blast, the roof of the mosque also collapsed, he added.
PM Shehbaz Termed this Peshawar attack as an attack on Pakistan.

Just returned from Peshawar. The sheer scale of the human tragedy is unimaginable. This is no less than an attack on Pakistan. The nation is overwhelmed by a deep sense of grief. I have no doubt terrorism is our foremost national security challenge.
