ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has ruled that the authorities must ensure PTI Chairman Imran Khan receives a prayer mat and an English translation of the Holy Quran. Chief Justice Aamir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court issued a written directive in reply to Imran Khan’s applications. These applications pertained to his transfer to Adiala Jail, amenities, and legal counsel access.
The written order stipulates that prison officials are obligated to enable family visits and lawyer consultations. This must be done in accordance with established prison regulations.
Regarding a separate plea for access to home-cooked meals, the court has decided to deliberate on the matter during the next hearing.
Imran’s counsel seeks contempt case
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court has also released a written order regarding a contempt of court application submitted by Sher Afzal Marwat, the lawyer representing PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Marwat complained that he was not allowed to meet Imran Khan. Chief Justice Aamir Farooq of the IHC issued the written directive.
According to the lawyer, he was denied a meeting with Imran Khan at the jail and instead faced legal proceedings.
In addition, the order mandates the provision of copies of the application to the relevant parties. It includes a directive for them to present their responses during the upcoming hearing. The order specifies aligning the case for hearing with Imran Khan’s plea about facility provision.
