ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has removed a case demanding action against former Army Chief General (r) Qamar Javed Bajwa and former DG ISI Lt General (r) Faiz Hameed just before its scheduled hearing.
As per the report, the case, set for November 28 (Tuesday), was unexpectedly taken off the cause list. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq was slated to preside over the proceedings.
Initiated by citizen Atif Ali, the case urged the court to direct the Federal Investigation Agency to take action against the retired officers for alleged rule violations related to interviews that were deemed to ‘misrepresent facts.’ The petition alleges that Bajwa and Faiz, through their interviews, engaged in criminal acts under the guise of freedom of expression, bringing disrepute to both the country and the army.
In the prior hearing on October 9, the court had issued notices to Bajwa and Faiz, as well as the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, the Press Association of Pakistan, and two journalists, Shahid Maitla and Javed Chaudhry, to whom the contentious interviews were given.
General (r) Bajwa served as the army chief from 2016 to 2022, while Lieutenant General (r) Faiz Hameed retired in 2022 following the appointment of the new army chief, having served as the DG of Inter-Services Intelligence from 2019 to 2021.
Protestors Confront Former First Lady Bushra Begum After Imran Khan’s £190 Million Scandal Hearing
Meanwhile, protesters surrounded a vehicle carrying former First Lady Bushra Begum outside Adiala Jail on Monday, raising slogans against her. Bushra Begum attended a hearing related to the £190 million scandal involving her husband, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, held inside the jail compound. The protesters demanded action against her in connection with an alleged illegal marriage case.

In a video of the incident, a small group of men can be seen surrounding the black vehicle, which was briefly halted before managing to speed away. The scandal involves Imran Khan and Bushra Begum allegedly taking bribes to settle a case with property tycoon Malik Riaz in the Al-Qadir Trust case, later renamed the £190 million case.
Bushra’s former husband, Khawar Maneka, claimed in a recent interview that she had married Khan before completing her iddat (waiting period). Following the interview, he filed a case against Bushra and Imran, citing their ‘un-Islamic’ marriage.
