ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is not among the five probables for the caretaker prime minister.
The PML-N and PPP have short-listed five candidates for the selection of a caretaker prime minister. Both parties are holding consultations with their allies for the caretaker setup. This emerged from media reports about the PML-N and PPP leaders meeting in Dubai and the names of the probables for the next prime minister.

One thing is clear in the political circles now the name of Ishaq Dar has been dropped as caretaker PM, following stiff resistance from within the coalition partners of the PML-N-led government.
The mainstream coalition parties _ PML-N and PPP, however, are not disclosing the names of five probables for the prime minister of the caretaker setup.
They are doing it to take on board all their allies and avoid premature controversies.
PML-N and PPP hold the second round of talks in Dubai
Furthermore, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) bigwigs held the second round of consultations in Dubai and finalized names for caretaker prime minister and ministers.
Throughout the high-level parleys in Dubai, the top leaders of the PML-N and PPP discussed various names for the caretaker prime minister. They also discussed a name of a non-political figure from south Punjab.
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari had a two-hour-long meeting at a Dubai hotel on Monday night.
Notably, during the meeting, they emphasized repeatedly that the caretaker prime minister should be a neutral and non-controversial figure, ensuring acceptance of the election results by all.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar expressed surprise at the reactions from some political leaders and others regarding the proposal to nominate him for the caretaker prime minister position in Pakistan.
He said that he would accept whatever decision the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership makes regarding the caretaker prime minister role.
He said that the decision for the caretaker prime minister will be made by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and coalition parties.
Dar argued that Pakistan cannot function properly without increasing the powers of the caretaker government. He firmly rejected the idea of postponing the elections.
