Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, stated on Sunday that Iran would not abandon its nuclear program despite recent US airstrikes targeting three key facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
Speaking at an emergency press conference at the National Press Club in Islamabad, the ambassador emphasized that Iran’s nuclear activities are strictly for peaceful purposes, such as electricity generation. He noted that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has affirmed the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program in fifteen separate assessments, according to a press release cited by Pakistan’s state-run APP.
Dr. Moghadam added that diplomatic talks concerning Iran’s nuclear program were underway when Israel launched strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and assassinated several prominent scientists and military officials. He said Iran responded with its own missile capabilities.
He strongly condemned the joint Israeli-American attacks, describing them as blatant violations of international law, and asserted that “Israel cannot withstand Iranian missile power for even ten days.”
“Iran will respond to the United States in line with the UN Charter. Americans around the world could be targeted,” he warned.
The ambassador expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for publicly condemning the attacks on Iranian territory.
He further stated that Iran’s nuclear commission is currently assessing the aftermath of the strikes to safeguard its population against any emergency situation.
“We are prepared to endure a prolonged conflict with the support of our leadership and military,” Dr. Moghadam said, emphasizing Iran’s readiness without requesting external military aid.
In response to a media query, he revealed that Iranian authorities had recovered drones and other weaponry from individuals engaged in espionage. He added that several suspects had been detained, including Iranian nationals.
