Internal Rifts in PML-N Over Proposal to Ban PTI

Ban PTI

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) is reportedly experiencing internal division over the federal government’s decision to ban Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as per sources.

According to sources familiar with an internal party meeting, PML-N leadership holds differing views on the matter, with some expressing reservations about the government’s political strategy.

The scheduled meeting to discuss the PTI ban was postponed due to these internal disagreements.

One senior party leader, speaking anonymously, indicated that certain members were excluded from the meeting because their opposing views might escalate tensions within the party.

Another leader emphasized opposition to banning any political party but pledged solidarity with the party’s ultimate decision.

The federal government’s decision to impose a ban on PTI comes amid serious allegations.

Federal Information Minister Ata Tarar highlighted in a press conference that Article 17 of the constitution grants the federal government authority to ban a political party under specific circumstances.

Tarar cited credible evidence supporting the PTI ban, pointing to allegations of foreign funding, involvement in the May 9 incident, facilitation of terrorist resettlement, the cipher episode, and a resolution passed in the United States.

The controversy surrounding PTI has stirred significant debate within political circles and the public domain, with PML-N grappling internally over its stance and response to the government’s decision.

The situation remains fluid as both parties navigate legal and political avenues amid growing tension and uncertainty over the future of PTI’s political operations in Pakistan.

PML-N’s internal discord underscores broader challenges in Pakistan’s political landscape, where legal and constitutional issues intersect with partisan rivalries and governance concerns.

As the situation unfolds, observers are closely watching how PML-N and other political stakeholders will navigate these complex dynamics, balancing legal accountability with political ramifications in a polarized environment.
