Protests
On May 9, the arrest of the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) triggered widespread violent clashes across Pakistan.
Party workers, incensed by their chairman’s detention, orchestrated protests in both remote and major cities. In response to these developments, regions such as Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad called upon the armed forces to intervene and ensure the maintenance of law and order.
Amid the unrest, the protests escalated to the point where they targeted not only the Army installations but also the residence of the Corps Commander in Lahore.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers’ demonstration turned aggressive, resulting in attacks on strategic military sites and the residence of a high-ranking military official.
