In Philadelphia, a heartwarming love story blossomed between Marjorie Fiterman, 102, and Bernie Littman, 100, proving that it’s never too late to find love.
Both had lived full lives, enduring the loss of their spouses before moving into the same senior living community, where they never expected romance to bloom. But after nine years of companionship, they made history by tying the knot, becoming the oldest married couple with a combined age of 202 years and 271 days.
Their story began at a community costume party, where they felt an immediate connection. Remarkably, their first date coincided with the birth of one of Bernie’s great-granddaughters—a serendipitous start to a deep and enduring relationship.
Though both attended the University of Pennsylvania—Bernie studying engineering and Marjorie pursuing a teaching career—their paths didn’t cross until fate united them decades later in their golden years.
Bernie’s granddaughter, Sarah Sicherman, celebrated their union on social media, sharing, “With so much sadness and fear in the world, it’s nice to share something that brings joy. Today, my 100-year-old grandfather married his 102-year-old girlfriend! They each had 60-plus years of marriage with their first spouses and found love again at 100.”
Their bond flourished through shared meals and participation in community activities, including theater productions. Bernie attributes his longevity to staying curious, reading, and keeping up with current events, while Marjorie swears by buttermilk as her secret to a long life.
Their story is a testament to love’s ability to surprise and endure at any stage of life.
