KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Veteran Pakistani actor Asma Abbas has shared some advice for married women, emphasizing the importance of boundaries in their relationships with their mothers post-marriage.
In a video posted on her YouTube channel, Baby Baji, star addressed newlyweds and their mothers, urging them to “stop chasing each other” to ensure harmony in marital homes.
“After getting married, women should refrain from sharing every little detail about their in-laws with their mothers,” Asma said, explaining that such habits can create discord. “Constantly discussing minor issues, like who said what or how often a sister-in-law visits, only stirs unnecessary trouble,” she added.
Asma suggested that daughters should be encouraged to focus on adjusting to their new lives and managing their marriages independently.
She also advised mothers to avoid interfering in their daughters’ marital affairs. “Homes where mothers don’t meddle in their daughters’ in-law matters are the ones that thrive,” she stated.
The Fraud actress highlighted the importance of fostering tolerance, cautioning that retaliating against in-laws could escalate conflicts.
“If mothers fail to guide their daughters to endure challenges and instead encourage confrontation, the situation will only worsen,” she warned.
Asma also recommended limiting visits to the mother’s house after the initial phase of marriage. “It’s fine to visit more frequently during the early days, and mothers can visit too, but gradually, these visits should decrease,” she said.
Her candid advice has sparked conversations online, with many appreciating her perspective on maintaining healthy boundaries for stronger relationships.
