ISLAMABAD: The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has informed the administration of more violence after the release of former prime minister Imran Khan. In a letter written to the Chief Commissioner Islamabad and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, the Bureau urged them to take measures to secure state properties.
The Intelligence Bureau has written two separate letters. In one letter, the IB asked the Islamabad administration to protect the premises where former prime minister Imran Khan is being held (Police Guest House in Police Lines, Islamabad), and the adjoining buildings.
According to the IB, former prime minister Imran Khan has been making provocative statements against institutions. These states led to violent incidents across the country, it added.
Meanwhile, the IB’s letter also pointed out the damage done to some government and private properties by the PT supporters.
The protesters also blocked the Kashmir Highway leading to Islamabad airport for hours and kept suspended traffic.
PTI happy, PML-N unhappy over Supreme Court decision
The leaders and supporters of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf are celebrating the Supreme Court’s decision of declaring the illegal arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan while the PML-N leaders appear angry with the verdict.
The three-member bench of the Supreme Court today ordered the release of former prime minister Imran Khan by declaring his arrest unlawful at Islamabad High Court.
The apex court ordered the Islamabad police to shift to PTI chairman to the Police Guest House and ensure his security at all times.
PTI leaders urged supporters of the party to come to the streets to celebrate the decision of the Supreme Court.
PTI leader and former special assistant to the prime minister on youth affairs Usman Dar asked the party supporters to take to the streets to express solidarity and gratitude to the top court.
Through Twitter he said, “All Pakistanis, wherever they are, should come out to express solidarity and gratitude to the Supreme Court in their respective areas.”
Meanwhile, PTI leader and former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail also expressed his pleasure over the SC’s verdict.
He said, “Imran Khan released by Supreme Court. Pakistan zindabad.”
The former wife of Jamima Goldsmith also felt glad and said, “Finally sense has prevailed.”
SC decision annoys PML-N leaders
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leaders fired a broadside at the country’s top judge for giving a big and unexpected relief to the PTI chief in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.
A three-member bench — headed by CJP Bandial and comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar — announced the verdict on PTI’s petition challenging Khan’s arrest on Thursday afternoon.
PML-N Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz criticised the chief justice and asked him to resign as the CJP and join the PTI.
She said, “The chief justice was very happy today to meet the criminal who plundered Rs60 billion from the national exchequer and he [CJP] was even more happy to release this criminal.”
