Ban Pakistani Artists
In a recent decision, India’s court system rejected a petition aimed at banning Pakistani artists from entering the country and also dismissed the request to halt visa issuance to them.
The petition, filed by Faaiz Anwar Qureshi, a self-proclaimed cine worker and artist, voiced concerns about potential job opportunities for Indian artists being impacted by the presence of Pakistani artists during the World Cup.

The plea specifically urged the Bombay High Court to prevent Pakistani musicians, singers, lyricists, and technicians from entering India as they were being invited by Indian individuals and companies.
However, a division bench, composed of Justices Sunil Shukre and Firdosh Pooniwalla, firmly rejected the petition. The court emphasized that such actions would be detrimental to fostering cultural harmony and unity, both within India and with its neighboring nation, Pakistan.
The court underlined the notion that patriotism does not necessitate enmity towards foreigners, especially those from neighboring countries. This ruling stands as a significant decision in favor of cultural exchange and cooperation between India and Pakistan. Overall, court rejects plea to ban Pakistani artists in India, but urges visa authorities to take necessary actions.
