Allegations of embezzlement have arisen against a colonel in Indian Military Intelligence. It is a significant blow to the reputation of the Indian Army, which is already facing accusations of widespread corruption.
According to confidential sources, the alleged misconduct took place between May 2019 and March 2021, spanning a three-year period. During this time, the colonel orchestrated a sophisticated scheme that reportedly embezzled over six billion rupees from the Indian Army.
The scheme allegedly involved fake signatures and fabricated receipts. The core of the operation revolves around the fraudulent hiring of more than 150 civilian vehicles on paper, ostensibly for official espionage against Pakistan. However, the sources revealed that the officials did not use the vehicles for their intended purpose. Officers stationed at the Corps Headquarters, in fact, used them for personal use.
Upon the discovery of the corruption scandal, the accused Indian colonel openly criticized his own military institution. Preliminary inquiry findings suggest that individuals cynically exploited the mention of Pakistan as a potential threat to manipulate funds and resources, leading to widespread embezzlement.
