During the PAC meeting, the claims made by Ms. Amna Masood Janjua against the former NAB chairman regarding the harassment of women, who visited the commission of missing people chaired by him, were also discussed.
According to Geo News’ ‘Capital Talk’, Amna Masood Janjua of Defense for Human Rights said, Iqbal, the director of the commission for missing persons, allegedly told the wife of a missing person, “You are so beautiful. Why do you need a husband?”
PAC Chairman Noor Alam Khan stated that the accusation against the commission’s top official was false. He made it clear that any form of harassment towards women would not be tolerated and that perpetrators would be held accountable. According to him, there were cases of unacceptable harassment committed by high-ranking officials at several organizations. The previous head of the NAB wrote to the committee chair explaining that he would be unable to present because of Eidul Azha. The committee members dismissed the letter and ordered the NAB to summon the former chairman to testify before the PAC on Thursday (today).
