Imran Khan’s Letters to Army Chief a National Level Crime: Rana Sanaullah

Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has dismissed opposition calls for early elections, questioning their motives and political strategy.

Speaking in an interview, he urged the opposition to prioritize meaningful engagement over protests.

“What else can the opposition do besides demanding elections? There’s no need to be concerned about their stance,” Sanaullah remarked, emphasizing the importance of dialogue between the government and opposition on national issues.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to political alliances, particularly with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. “We must continue consultations with Fazlur Rehman and seek his input. He has always responded positively to our concerns,” he stated.

Sanaullah also disclosed that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif plans to meet with members of the National Assembly following discussions with provincial legislators, signaling efforts to strengthen party coordination.

Regarding the Punjab governor’s objections, he said, “We addressed concerns raised at the Governor House, and the issues have now been resolved.” He added that the prime minister had formed a committee to engage in talks with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to ensure coalition stability.

Criticism of PTI and Imran Khan’s Letters

Commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s recent statements, Sanaullah accused him of spreading propaganda against the military.

“The PTI founder is using letters as a tool for misinformation, attempting to discredit the army. However, this will not create any divide between the people and the military,” he warned.

He went further, calling Imran Khan’s actions a “serious national offense.” He also dismissed PTI’s claims of official contact with the establishment, stating, “The establishment has never reached out to PTI.”

PTI’s Political Future

Sanaullah urged PTI to engage with political parties instead of seeking support from the establishment, emphasizing that political dialogue is their only viable path.

“PTI should focus on forming alliances if it wants a way forward. Otherwise, it will remain isolated,” he asserted.

He criticized PTI’s approach, stating, “The party has pushed itself into isolation. If others want to adopt this strategy, they are free to do so.”
