Attock Jail
On Sunday, Punjab IG Prisons Mian Farooq Nazir visited Attock District Jail, where Imran Khan, the PTI chairman, was serving a three-year prison term in the Toshakhana (gift repository) case. During the visit, Imran Khan expressed his satisfaction with the facilities provided to him.
The deposed premier met with the Punjab police official, who inquired about the facilities at Attock Jail. Jail officials reported that the IG prisons reviewed the camera locations in Imran Khan’s barrack to ensure his privacy.
Imran Khan, in accordance with prison regulations, had been provided with a bed, pillow, mattress, chair, and air cooler. Additional amenities included a fan, prayer room, the Holy Quran with English translation, books, newspaper, thermos, dates, honey, tissue papers, and perfume.
Furthermore, the washroom featured a Western toilet seat, wash basin, soap, air freshener, towel, and tissue paper. To address his medical needs, five doctors were appointed, each on duty for eight hours.
Special food, approved by the IG prisons, was served to Imran Khan, and a doctor examined it before delivery by a special team.
Previously, the PTI core committee had expressed concerns about the possibility of Imran Khan being subjected to a sinister tactic involving slow poison during his incarceration. They alleged that he was denied the right to order food and water from home, heightening concerns for his well-being and safety.
The core committee also voiced distress over the delayed decision-making process regarding Imran Khan’s transfer from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. They argued that the facilities at Attock Jail were insufficient, particularly considering his status as a former premier, and considered his imprisonment there a breach of regulations.
