ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has imposed a fine of Rs25,000 on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad. This action follows a petition that requested the removal of Shireen Mazari’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri issued a three-page written order. The order directs the Islamabad Inspector General (IG) to pay a fine of Rs 25,000.
The fine is to be given to petitioner Shireen Mazari before the upcoming hearing. The IGP Islamabad was instructed on August 2 to provide a response within one week.
However, he failed to meet this deadline, and the response was not submitted by August 10.
In response to this delay, the court has ruled that the IG Islamabad must be penalized with a Rs 25,000 fine.
The court’s directive also includes an instruction for the IG to initiate an inquiry. The purpose of the inquiry is to determine the reasons behind the delayed response.
Additionally, the IG is required to take appropriate actions as a result of the inquiry.
The IG has been further directed to furnish the necessary reply within two weeks.
This directive is in accordance with the court’s order and instructions.
The written order was issued by Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.
