Following the recent launches of new models by Deepal and BYD, Hyundai Nishat Motors seems ready to introduce the 7th generation Elantra to Pakistan’s automotive market. Historically, new vehicle models have arrived in Pakistan around four to five years after their global release. Since the 7th-gen Elantra was launched internationally in 2020, many are anticipating its local debut soon.
On August 6, 2024, a 7th-generation Elantra was spotted in Balochistan, fueling rumors of a possible hybrid variant. Although Hyundai Nishat Motors has yet to release an official statement regarding the sighting, leaked images suggest that the company may indeed introduce a hybrid version of the Elantra.
Adding further excitement, Hyundai Nishat Motors recently shared a teaser image on their official Instagram page. The image, which shows a steering wheel, has been identified as belonging to the 7th-gen Elantra, prompting industry experts to believe that the hybrid model’s arrival is imminent.
Internationally, the Elantra comes in 1.6L and 2.0L naturally aspirated (NA) variants. However, reports indicate that the hybrid version may replace the 1.6L petrol engine in the Pakistani market. While no official launch date has been confirmed, industry insiders predict that the hybrid Elantra will be unveiled at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2024 in Lahore, which is scheduled to take place from October 25 to 27. The vehicle is expected to become available by the summer of 2025.
