ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, an accountability court postponed the hearing of the NAB reference involving the former finance minister, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.
The court has adjourned the hearing of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference against the former finance minister until November 14. This reference was scheduled for a hearing in the accountability court following a Supreme Court verdict against amendments in the NAB law.
The case involves allegations of abuse of power related to the preparation of a software app, which is said to have caused a loss of $11.125 million to the national exchequer.
The accused in this case include Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, who served as the former finance minister, and Abdullah Yousuf, the former chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), among others.
The NAB Regional Board in Karachi recommended filing a reference against Hafeez Sheikh and other accused individuals over their alleged misuse of authority during Hafeez Sheikh’s tenure as finance minister in the PPP (Pakistan Peoples Party) government. This alleged misuse of authority is said to have resulted in a loss of $11.125 million to the government exchequer.
