Hamid Saeed Kazmi
Former Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi officially joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday. The announcement of his affiliation came following a meeting with Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.
Ahmad Saeed Kazmi, during the meeting, publicly declared his decision to align with the PPP. Other key PPP leaders, including Nayyer Bokhari, Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood, and Abdul Qadir Shaheen, were also present at the gathering.
Kazmi had previously served as the Minister for Religious Affairs under the PPP government from 2008 to 2010, having been elected on a party ticket from Rahim Yar Khan. His tenure was marked by controversy, as he resigned from office after a lower court sentenced him to sixteen years in prison for his alleged involvement in the Haj scandal. However, he was later acquitted by the Islamabad High Court.
In the 2018 elections, Kazmi contested as an independent candidate but faced defeat. Subsequently, in 2022, he decided to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Now, in a significant turn of events, he has shifted his allegiance to the PPP, marking a notable development in his political journey.
Former PPP Leader Latif Khosa Joins PTI On Imran Khan’s Wish
Meanwhile, former PPP leader Latif Khosa joined the PTI on Sunday, almost three months after the former Sindh ruling party suspended his party membership. “I have taken this step to start the journey of happiness and to lead the nation towards a beautiful day,” Khosa, who was seen with a PTI flag slung around his neck told reporters in Lahore.
“Some say that people are leaving [PTI] by addressing press conferences and you are doing a press conference to join the party. I am doing this on my own. If rendering services for your mother country makes you a lunatic, then yes I am a lunatic.”
