GILGIT: Haji Gulbar Khan became the new Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). He belongs to the PTI’s Forward Bloc.
His election follows the recent regional elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, a semi-autonomous region in Pakistan.
Haji Gulbar Khan, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), emerged as the winner for the position of Chief Minister. The PTI secured the majority of seats in the GB Legislative Assembly during the elections. It allowed the party to form the government and nominate their candidate for the Chief Minister’s role.
As the new Chief Minister, Haji Gulbar Khan will be responsible for leading the provincial government and implementing policies and initiatives to address the needs and aspirations of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. His election signifies a transfer of power and the beginning of a new administration in the region.

Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Khalid Khursheed Disqualified In Fake Degree Case
Earlier, Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chief Court disqualified Chief Minister Khalid Khursheed in a fake degree case.
A member of the PPP in the GB Assembly, Ghulam Shahzad Agha, filed the plea against the CM. A three-member larger bench, consisting of Justice Malik Inayat Ur Rehman, Justice Jauhar Ali, and Justice Mushtaq Muhammad, announced the decision.
Ghulam Shahzad Agha, a member of the GB Assembly from the PPP, had challenged CM Khan’s law degree. He sought his disqualification under Article 62 and 63 of the constitution of Pakistan.
On May 29, Chief Judge Ali Baig constituted the larger bench, consisting of judges Malik Anayatur Rehman, Johar Ali, and Mohammad Mushtaq. They were instructed to conduct day-to-day hearings and conclude the case within 14 days.
