Ashoura is observed on the tenth of Muharram. Before sunset, visitors to the mosque will receive dates, Zamzam water, and dry snacks to break their fast.
ISLAMABAD: According to the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, the Grand Mosque in Makkah is ready to welcome pilgrims, worshipers, and those observing the fast on Ashoura.
On Friday, July 28 this year, Muslims will observe Ashoura, a significant day in the Islamic calendar, on the tenth of Muharram in Sadi Arabia.
For Sunni Muslims, Ashoura holds great religious importance, and they consider fasting on this day as a virtuous act.
At the mosque, visitors will receive dates, Zamzam water, and dry snacks before sunset, allowing them to break their fast.
Spokesperson Maher bin Mansi Al-Zahrani of the presidency stated that they employ modern technology and artificial intelligence methods to support sterilization and disinfection procedures at the mosque.
The measures implemented for sterilization and sanitization at the mosque include the use of advanced technology, such as 11 smart sterilization robots, 20 devices for sterilizing air and surfaces simultaneously, and 20 devices for hard-to-reach areas like ceilings and pillars. Additionally, 600 automatic hand sanitization devices are in place.
To ensure thorough sterilization, several teams diligently work to clean all areas of the mosque, its courtyards, and toilets, using over 70,000 liters of disinfectant.
Overseeing these efforts, 200 Saudi supervisors monitor the work of 4,000 male and female employees who clean the mosque ten times a day.
They also prepare 7,000 bottles of Zamzam water for distribution and equip all areas of the mosque with 4,500 containers, holding 500,000 liters of the holy water.
