On Wednesday, the Cabinet Division issued the public holiday calendar for the year 2022.
The government has set aside May 3, 4, and 5 in 2022 as national holidays to commemorate Eid-ul-Fitr.
Pakistan Day (March 23), Kashmir Solidarity Day (February 5), Labor Day (May 1), Eid-ul-Fitr (May 3, 4, and 5), Eid-ul-Azha (July 10, 11, and 12), Ashura (August 7 & 8), Independence Day (August 14) and Quaid-e-Azam Day (December 25) have all been declared public holidays for the year.
The government had already designated February 5th a holiday earlier in the day. As a yearly federal holiday, it is featured in the federal government’s official list of days off.
The first of January and the first of July have been designated as extra holidays for the banking industry. However, the banks will only be closed to the public, not to the staff, during this time.
Muslim celebrations are marked by the sight of the moon, which will require the issuing of specific notices.
Meanwhile, several governmental and private organisations have announced plans to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 with unique activities around the country. The demonstration will take place on both Friday and Saturday to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people and their struggle for independence.
