Government Allocates Rs. 23 Billion Additional Grant to AJK in ECC Meeting

In a pivotal session today, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue, presided over the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet.

The meeting was marked by the presence of key figures including Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari; Minister for Industries & Production, Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain; Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik; Minister for Commerce, Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, and relevant federal secretaries.

During the session, the Secretary of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan briefed the committee on recent developments. It was highlighted that in a significant high-level meeting convened on Monday, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, took a decisive step by authorizing an additional grant of Rs. 23 Billion to the Government of AJK, emphasizing its critical importance for the nation.

In light of this briefing, the ECC deliberated and ultimately approved the summary concerning the “Provision of Rs. 23 Billion as Additional Grant to the AJK Government.” This approval signifies a strategic move, facilitated through a Technical Supplementary Grant, as proposed by the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The decision underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the socio-economic development and stability of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), recognizing its significance within the national framework. The allocated funds are expected to catalyze various development projects, bolster infrastructure, and enhance public welfare initiatives in the region.

Furthermore, this gesture reflects a broader strategy aimed at fostering unity and prosperity across all provinces and territories of Pakistan. By prioritizing the needs of AJK and ensuring equitable resource allocation, the government reaffirms its dedication to inclusive growth and national cohesion.

The ECC’s endorsement of this grant serves as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the federal government and its commitment to addressing the developmental needs of AJK, thereby contributing to the overall progress and well-being of the nation.
