Google co-founder Sergey Brin has officially divorced his estranged wife, Nicole Shanahan, amidst allegations that she had an affair with Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter (formerly known as X). Both Shanahan and Musk have denied these allegations, as reported by Page Six.
Court documents reveal that they finalized the divorce on May 26, with the judge approving their separation. The documents also stipulate that the former couple will share joint legal and physical custody of their four-year-old daughter. Financial matters are to remain confidential and they will resolve them according to their prenuptial agreement.
Brin, 50, initiated the divorce proceedings from Shanahan, 34, on January 6, 2022, after three years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Media reports suggest that Shanahan, who is also a California attorney, grew closer to Musk after Brin provided funding to Tesla, Musk’s electric car company. The two were known to be friends.
In response to reports of the alleged relationship between the billionaire and the attorney in July 2022, Musk clarified on social media, stating, “Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night!” He went on to add, “I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around.” Nothing romantic.” The Wall Street Journal ran a story titled “Elon Musk’s Friendship With Sergey Brin Ruptured by Alleged Affair.”
In an interview with People magazine earlier in the year, Shanahan denied having a romantic relationship or an affair with Musk, describing her relationship with him as “collegial.” However, the Wall Street Journal maintained the accuracy of its reporting.
As of now, Sergey Brin, aged 50, is the ninth richest person globally, with a net worth of $118 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
