A tragic event unfolded in Rawalpindi’s private housing society when a young woman drowned in a storm drain while commuting to her office on a scooter. Surveillance footage reveals the girl being swept away after slipping from her scooter due to the heavy water flow in the storm drain.
The District Emergency Service has initiated a search and rescue operation to locate the missing woman. According to a spokesman from Rescue 1122, the victim, identified as 20-year-old Hamra from Ghauri Town, was riding her scooter when she encountered a powerful water current caused by the storm. The rescue teams were swiftly deployed to the scene following the incident.
Reports suggest that Hamra fell off her scooter because of the slippery conditions and was carried away by the surging water into a nearby nullah. Despite extensive search efforts and the deployment of all necessary equipment, the rescue teams have yet to recover her.
The search has been expanded to include the nullah’s connection with the Swan River. Rescue officials are making every effort to find Hamra and are utilizing all available resources in their quest. Muhammad Usman, a representative of the rescue team, stated that they are working tirelessly to locate the missing woman and bring her to safety.
