In a significant achievement, Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) has clinched the top position for “social media engagement” at the 9th International Geneva Engage Awards, held in Geneva, Switzerland.
These awards recognize outstanding efforts in digital outreach and communication by entities such as non-governmental organizations, permanent representations, international organizations, and other actors in Geneva.
The accolades celebrate the dynamic connections between Geneva and global communities affected by policies related to development, migration, human rights, and climate change.
Pakistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Bilal Ahmad, received the award and dedicated the achievement to the hard work of his team at the mission, as well as to his predecessor and Pakistan’s current ambassador in Beijing, Khalil Hashmi.
Ambassador Bilal Ahmad applauded the dedicated and sustained efforts of Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) in the realms of public and digital diplomacy, yielding positive and encouraging results. He expressed gratitude to the Diplomatic Foundation, the organizing body of the awards, for honoring Pakistan’s diplomatic mission.
The Diplomatic Foundation, responsible for these awards, focuses on enhancing the role of small and developing states in global diplomacy. It achieves this by providing training to officials and building capacity in areas such as internet governance, cybersecurity, data, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technology-related issues.
With a track record of successfully training over 7,500 alumni from 208 countries and territories, the foundation plays a crucial role in fostering diplomatic capabilities worldwide. Pakistan’s recognition in the realm of social media engagement underscores its commitment to effective digital outreach and communication on the global stage.
