Defense Cooperation
RAWALPINDI: In an official statement, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), announced that Army Chief General Asim Munir called for the “enhancement” of defense collaboration and training cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey during his visit to Turkey.
General Munir emphasized the need to strengthen defense ties in meetings with top Turkish leaders, including President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, foreign and defense ministers, and commanders of Turkish land and air forces.

General Munir praised the Turkish military’s efforts to maintain regional peace and stability, commending the operational readiness standards of the Turkish armed forces. The ISPR also noted that Turkish leaders acknowledged Pakistan Army Engineers’ contributions during a recent earthquake in Turkey.
Additionally, General Munir paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at his mausoleum in Ankara and received a guard of honor at the Turkish land forces headquarters.
The Turkish Defense Minister and Commander of Turkish Land Forces honored him with the Legion of Merit for promoting defense relations between the two countries.
General Munir underscored the strong and enduring brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey, reaffirming Pakistan Army’s commitment to support the Turkish Land Forces in various domains and continuing to strengthen the fraternal ties between the two nations.
