ISLAMABAD: Manzoor Qadir, also known as Kaka, the former Director General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), was apprehended Today in connection with the Nasla Tower case.
In the Nasla Tower case, the former SBCA chief appeared before an anti-corruption court in Karachi and requested an extension of his interim bail. However, the court took action against him and canceled his interim bail, which it had granted on a bond of Rs 500,000.
During the court hearing, the investigation officer and lawyer, Sarkar Sharafuddin, vehemently opposed the bail application, presenting compelling evidence against Manzoor Qadir Kaka.
During the investigation, it came to light that Kaka had unlawfully sanctioned the map of Nasla Tower, allowing an unauthorized increase in the land area from 700 yards to 1100 yards.
Moreover, authorities accused Manzoor Qadir and several other individuals involved in the case of facilitating the approval of an illegal map of government land through the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA).
On June 16, 2021, the Supreme Court ordered the demolition of the residential plaza on Sharae Quaideen, consisting of 43 luxury apartments, each valued at approximately Rs 35 million. The court’s decision came as a result of petitions filed against encroachments in the city.
Since then, the case has been under investigation to hold those accountable for the unlawful actions that led to the construction of Nalsa Tower.
