ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has filed a bail application in the Supreme Court in the cipher case.
The application, submitted through Salman Safdar, contends that the cipher case is an extension of politically motivated cases against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman.
The bail application also urges the Supreme Court to consider whether the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has exhibited malicious intent in the cipher case. It references the foreign funding case as evidence of the FIA’s malicious intent.
It’s worth noting that Imran Khan’s bail in the cipher case has already been rejected by both the trial court and the Islamabad High Court.
The cipher case involves charges against Khan for allegedly illegally communicating and retaining a classified cable written by Pakistan’s ambassador in Washington.
Imran Khan was arrested in the cipher case on August 29 from Attock Jail. All hearings related to the cipher case have been held within the jail compound thus far.
Imran Khan’s Physician Dismisses Slow Poisoning Claims Amidst Incarceration
Dr. Faisal Sultan, the personal physician of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, stated that there is no clear evidence of slow poisoning during Khan’s custody. Dr. Sultan made these remarks during a conversation with journalists outside Adiala jail, where he had a meeting with Imran Khan on Thursday.
Khan’s personal physician, Dr. Sultan emphasized that Imran Khan was not under the influence of poison, nor had he been administered any. He found Khan to be “fit” during their meeting and stated that the former prime minister was “hale and hearty.”
In a separate development, Imran Khan provided a statement to the joint investigation team (JIT) on Thursday, denying his involvement in the violent riots that occurred on May 9. He claimed that he was in jail when the incident took place, and this statement was recorded in the presence of his lawyers.
The JIT, led by SSP (Operations) Rawalpindi Faisal Saleem, included other law enforcement officials. During the 45-minute session, Imran Khan refuted allegations of his involvement in the violence and responded to questions while evading tricky and confusing queries.
