Pervez Khattak claims PTI is now fully depleted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Mahmood Khan and other KP lawmakers having joined his faction, while the party continues to face internal challenges with members parting ways from Imran Khan.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expelled former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Mahmood Khan from the party ,today. This action was taken after he joined the breakaway faction led by former party leader Pervez Khattak, known as PTI Parliamentarians.
The party expelled several other PTI leaders, including former KP lawmakers Wilson Wazeer, Ishtia Urmar, Iqbal Wazeer, Yaqoob Sheikh, and Shafiq Afridi.
Earlier this month, Imran Khan-led party threw out Khattak, a former close aide of the ex-prime minister, and he subsequently formed PTI-Parliamentarians.
The former defence minister condemned the May 9 attacks and violent protests while announcing the formation of the new party.
The former provincial chief minister, who holds an important position in the province’s politics, stated that their existence is directly linked to that of Pakistan. He expressed his belief that PTI is now finished in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The politician, who held positions as the PTI’s secretary general and chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the PTI government, faced dismissal due to his failure to respond to a “show cause notice” issued to him.
PTI remains embattled as its chairman faces several cases and a threat of disqualification. Furthermore, key party leaders have split from the party following the events of May 9, when party workers caused havoc and attacked army installations.
Some former party members, previously considered close to the PTI chief, have also caused damage to the party in Punjab. Last month, Jahangir Tareen, Aleem Khan, and others formed the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.

Meanwhile, Asad Umar, a senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has expressed surprise and skepticism over the claims made by former Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chief Shabbar Zaidi regarding the country’s economy during PTI’s government tenure. Zaidi claimed that the economic policies of PTI were leading the country toward default.
