On Wednesday evening, an unidentified group of individuals attacked the residence of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar in Lahore, leaving two policemen injured.
Justice (r) Nisar verified that his house had been targeted with a grenade while he was inside at the time of the incident.
The assailants responsible for the attack remain unknown, and the assault reportedly took place in the garage of the house. Two on-duty policemen sustained injuries as a result of the attack. In response to the bombing, a significant police contingent swiftly arrived at the residence, and investigations into the incident are currently underway.
Justice Nisar also noted that his house lacks CCTV cameras, providing an additional challenge in identifying the perpetrators or gathering evidence related to the attack. The situation raises concerns about the security and safety measures in place at the residence of a prominent figure in the legal community.
The assault occurred shortly after an incident of aerial firing in Rawalpindi, where Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir narrowly escaped. Police later claimed that the incident was the result of a drug addict’s actions and emphasized that no prominent figure was specifically targeted.
