On Monday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that the current administration was attempting to prevent the PTI-led telethon for flood assistance by “threatening cable providers.”
On Sunday, the PTI raised a total of Rs 5.2 billion thanks to a telethon hosted by the former prime minister.
Khan took to Twitter to claim that the government “pressured” television networks not to broadcast the telethon and then “threatened” cable companies that carried the show anyhow.
The chair of the PTI wrote, “This shows how petrified they are of our rising popularity among the nation.
Also, they know no one trusts them with their money given their record of loot and plunder.
So they sought to deny fundraising to aid flood victims just to get at me and my party. Unbelievable callousness.”
Following disastrous floods this monsoon season, which caused incalculable damage and inundated one-third of the country, Pakistan has been asking for international aid in the form of both financial aid and relief supplies for the victims and places ravaged by the floods.
