First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered against former first lady Bushra Bibi on Saturday in Okara and Bahawalnagar over remarks made during a recent press conference. The allegations pertain to statements deemed controversial and inflammatory.
In Okara, the FIR was filed at the Sadar police station. The complainant, Ahmed, alleged that Bushra Bibi’s comments aimed to incite religious hatred, particularly targeting Saudi Arabia. He further claimed her remarks could lead to religious unrest and possibly provoke civil conflict in Pakistan. The FIR described her statements as a threat to Pakistan’s democratic ethos, emphasizing that the country’s laws uphold the right to religious freedom without tolerating incitement to hatred.
Authorities at the Okara police station have initiated an inquiry following the filing of the complaint.
Meanwhile, a similar FIR was lodged in Bahawalnagar. The complainant, Asif, accused Bushra Bibi of damaging Pakistan’s reputation and adversely affecting its foreign relations. The Bahawalnagar FIR stated that her comments harmed the nation’s standing on the global stage and negatively impacted its foreign policy objectives.
Law enforcement agencies in both districts are now investigating the allegations to determine the validity of the claims made against Bushra Bibi.
