FIA Committee to Probe Imran Khan Over Alleged Threatening Post on X

Imran Khan

On Friday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) established a four-member committee to investigate a “threatening post” made by former Prime Minister Imran Khan on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

The committee, consisting of senior officials from the Cyber Crime Wing in Islamabad, will delve into the matter with urgency.

The team has been dispatched to Adiala Jail, where Khan is currently detained, to conduct the investigation. The committee includes both investigative and technical officers who will interrogate Khan regarding the controversial post.

The nature of the post has sparked significant concerns, prompting the authorities to take action.

Details about the specific content of the post have not been fully disclosed. However, earlier in the day, Khan made a public statement on X accusing Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and accountability judge Humayun Dilawar of being biased against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

In his post, Khan alleged that a small, powerful elite controls the country’s resources and institutions, and expressed concerns that even the Supreme Court, which he previously viewed as somewhat immune to this influence, is now under attack.

Khan’s post also included calls to action, urging the nation to mobilize for a street movement to defend democratic freedoms.

He described the movement as a “jihad” for democracy and called on the judiciary to uphold the rule of law. Khan criticized the current legal and political environment, suggesting that the lack of rule of law is deterring foreign investment in Pakistan.

In addition to his allegations against high-profile officials, Khan signaled that his party is prepared to organize mass protests.

He encouraged his supporters to take to the streets and expressed willingness to face imprisonment if necessary for their cause.

Khan’s remarks reflect ongoing tensions between his party and the current government, with his call for a public demonstration highlighting the escalating political climate in Pakistan.
