KARACHI: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) and President of the Pakistan Democratic Movement has strongly expressed his stance on the sanctity of the Holy Quran and belief in the finality of prophethood. He has declared these as “red lines” that should not be crossed and called for a protest.
Addressing a gathering at the Karachi Press Club, Maulana Fazlur Rehman condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden. He called for the immediate recall of Pakistan’s ambassador to Sweden as a protest against the incident. He emphasized that Muslims hold the Holy Quran in utmost reverence and are ready to defend it at any cost.
The JUIF chief urged the Government of Pakistan and other Islamic countries to also recall their ambassadors from Sweden. Such actions are a show of solidarity in response to the desecration.
He further stated that Pakistan would not tolerate any interference in its internal affairs, particularly from Israel. Moreover, he further declared that there is no place for agents of Israel within the country.

During the demonstration, the protesters expressed their anger and sadness over the incident by burning flags of Sweden and Israel. They also burned an effigy of the Swedish president. Slogans against Sweden and Denmark were raised to condemn the desecration of the Holy Quran.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman stressed that Muslims are open-minded and respect other prophets such as Jesus and Moses, considering the Bible and Torah as holy books. However, he firmly asserted that the sanctity of the Holy Quran and belief in the finality of prophethood are non-negotiable principles for Muslims. He reasserted that any violation of these red lines will not be tolerated.
