The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has taken former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry into custody from Adiala Jail. Chaudhry, who is already in detention, was placed in Adiala Jail on judicial remand by the Rawalpindi court last Friday.
The Chairman of NAB issued a warrant for Fawad Chaudhry, who is a leader of the Stability of Pakistan Party and a former federal minister. The arrest is related to allegations of corruption and corrupt practices, with the warrant issued under NAB Section 24A.
During a hearing at the Judicial Magistrate of Islamabad Local Court, presided over by Yasar Mahmood, NAB officials and an investigation officer were present to address matters pertaining to the execution of the warrant and ongoing investigation.
COAS Gen. Asim Munir Raises Kashmir And Afghanistan Concerns In UN And US Talks
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir met UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York on Friday to articulate Pakistan’s concerns regarding the situations in Indian-held Kashmir and Afghanistan, according to diplomatic sources.
Expressing particular unease over the Indian Supreme Court’s approval of the merger of occupied Kashmir, Pakistan urged the UN to uphold its commitment to facilitating a plebiscite for Kashmiris to determine their future. Additionally, Pakistan voiced alarm over an upswing in militant attacks, seeking international support to quell what it termed “cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan.”
Following discussions with top US officials in Washington, Gen Munir arrived in New York before proceeding to Tampa, Florida, for talks with General Michael E. Kurilla, the commander of the US Central Command.
