ISLAMABAD: The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has issued a clarification in response to a viral notification circulating on social media, confirming that the document announcing the closure of schools, colleges, and resorts in the federal capital is, indeed, fake. Authorities categorically assert that the mentioned notification is not legitimate.
Earlier reports emerged suggesting the closure of prominent educational institutions, such as Bahria University, National Defence University, and Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad, allegedly due to security concerns. Additionally, there were indications that several schools in the city had voluntarily closed in response to perceived security threats.
Sources indicate that a search operation conducted by the police and sensitive agencies in the outskirts of Islamabad, driven by security concerns, resulted in a threat alert. Consequently, certain private schools in the city chose to temporarily close as a precautionary measure.
It is noteworthy that no official notification from the Federal Directorate of Education was issued regarding the closure of government educational institutions.
Addressing the situation, IG Islamabad Akbar Nasir reassured the public that the security and law and order in the city are well under control. He emphasized that the purpose of the alert is not to mandate the closure of institutions or activities but rather to ensure heightened vigilance in the interest of public safety.
