Senator Faisal Vawda has claimed that former Director General (DG) of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed, has submitted crucial evidence, including devices, against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
In a recent statement, Senator Vawda said, “The troubles for Imran Khan and his associates are set to escalate, as Faiz Hameed has handed over significant evidence, including devices, against them.” He also remarked that the trial of Faiz Hameed has deflated PTI’s calls for civil disobedience. “Had Faiz Hameed’s trial not occurred, Imran Khan, his wife, and associates wouldn’t be facing these challenges,” he added.
Vawda suggested that he wouldn’t be surprised if Imran Khan faces a military trial. He further mentioned that investigations into Faiz Hameed for other alleged offenses are ongoing.
The senator also claimed that PTI is preparing to launch a new social media campaign aimed at gaining public sympathy. He said PTI intends to shift the narrative in its favor by linking the situation in Syria and its prisoners to Pakistan, presenting them as if they were Pakistani citizens.
Vawda urged the government to engage with PTI and seek a resolution. He criticized Nawaz Sharif, leader of the ruling party, for not making any statements regarding the potential talks while praising Imran Khan’s willingness to negotiate.
Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif noted that both Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed had been partners in significant political moves. He pointed out that Faiz Hameed had played a key role in bringing Imran Khan to power, a relationship that extended beyond the 2018 elections and continued into the events of May 9.
Asif emphasized that the decision on Imran Khan’s military trial would be made by the law, noting that several civilians were subjected to military trials during PTI’s tenure in government.
