An excavator operator who heroically rescued a family trapped in severe flooding in Killa Abdullah has been honored with cash prizes and a scholarship for his son.
Recently, Mohibullah saved five family members who were stranded in a vehicle caught in a flash flood in the Toba Achakzai area. Risking his own life, he conducted the rescue operation single-handedly.
In recognition of his bravery, the Quetta corps commander presented Mohibullah with a cash reward of Rs0.5 million. Additionally, the Balochistan government has awarded a scholarship to his son under the Balochistan Education Programme.
In a remarkable display of courage, Mohibullah rode his bike home to retrieve an excavator when others were hesitant to assist. A video circulating on social media shows him expertly maneuvering the machine to move the vehicle to safety.
His heroic act has been widely praised across the country. Hilal-e-Ahmar Balochistan Chairman Abdul Wali Khan Ghabizai and ANP member of the Balochistan Assembly Zamrak Khan Achakzai each announced a reward of Rs0.2 million for Mohibullah. Achakzai also stated that he would organize an event in Quetta to honor the rescuer.
At an appreciation event held at his office, Killa Abdullah Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Farooq presented Mohibullah with a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize.
In an interview, Mohibullah recounted hearing children crying when he reached the vehicle. Despite the risk, he was determined to attempt a rescue. “Allah blessed me with unseen help [to save the family],” he said.
He also mentioned that although the vehicle’s owner offered him all the money he had, he declined, emphasizing that his actions were motivated by faith rather than financial gain.
