The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the Chair of the 14th Islamic Summit, along with the Republic of Iraq, has requested an urgent meeting.

This session follows up on the OIC Executive Committee’s final statement, which the committee issued after an extraordinary meeting at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah on July 02, this year.

. The statement specifically addressed the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden and called for necessary high-level emergency meetings.

After consulting with member states regarding the implementation of the final statement by the Executive Committee, the OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha made the decision to convene this meeting.

In response to the repeated provocative actions that demonstrate deliberate religious hatred and intolerance, the OIC is actively considering further measures to effectively address the situation.
