Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja has announced that extensive preparations for the upcoming general elections are in progress, with the schedule for the 2023 polls set to be released shortly.
In a statement commemorating National Voters Day, the CEC emphasized the Election Commission’s commitment to its constitutional and legal duties, assuring that the commission is fully ready to conduct transparent and peaceful elections.
CEC Raja highlighted ongoing efforts in election preparations, confirming the completion of the printing and distribution of electoral rolls. He mentioned that a notification for the appointment of election staff, including returning officers (ROs) and district returning officers (DROs), will be issued in the coming days.
Amidst heightened political activities and negotiations within the country, as political parties gear up for the elections on February 8, 2023, the Finance Division released Rs17.4 billion to the ECP on Tuesday, dispelling rumors of election delays.
Last week, the ECP finalized the delimitation of constituencies for national and provincial assemblies, paving the way for the imminent announcement of the election schedule.
CEC Raja, reiterating that the elections will proceed as scheduled, assured complete security during the polling process. He urged citizens to exercise their right to vote for the “bright future of the country and nation” and encouraged cooperation with the ECP to ensure peaceful elections.
Highlighting the power of the vote, CEC Raja called on voters to consider the future of their children while casting their ballots and urged full participation in the election process.
