Eight Dead, Seven Injured in Ghotki Road Accident

Ghotki Road Accident

GHOTKI: At least eight people were killed and seven others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident on the Sukkur-Multan motorway near Malook Wali village in Ghotki during the early hours of Monday.

The incident occurred when a passenger bus traveling from Mansehra to Karachi collided with a trailer truck.

According to reports from the Motorway Police, the accident happened in the pre-dawn hours, leading to a devastating scene where the bus, traveling from the northern city of Mansehra to the southern metropolis of Karachi, rammed into the stationary trailer truck.

The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the immediate deaths of eight individuals and injuring seven others.

The injured were taken to Tehsil Hospital Ghotki, where they received medical treatment, while the deceased were also transported to the hospital for medico-legal procedures.

The police reported that among the deceased were women and children, and four of the injured were in critical condition.

The initial identification of the deceased included names such as Noor Elahi, Shagufta, Rozina, Uneeba, and Hasnat, though the heirs of these victims were not present at the hospital at the time of reporting.

The identification process was further complicated by heavy rain, which hampered rescue operations and made it difficult for officials to identify the bodies.

Following the rescue efforts, the wreckage of both the bus and the trailer was cleared from the scene and moved to a rest area for further examination.

The authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the accident and are coordinating with various agencies to assist the victims’ families.

In a related incident, on Sunday, a passenger coach fell into a gorge in Mian Khan village of Katlang Tehsil, Mardan, resulting in the deaths of at least four people and injuries to eleven others.

The injured in this accident also included women and children, according to rescue sources.

Additionally, another road mishap occurred on April 17 on the Indus Highway near Manjhand.

In that incident, six people were killed, and several others were injured when a passenger bus, an oil tanker, and a mini-truck collided in a multi-vehicle crash.

This series of accidents highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the urgent need for enhanced measures to prevent such tragic events.

These incidents underscore the critical need for improved road safety protocols and emergency response measures to address the growing number of road accidents and ensure the safety of travelers.
