ECP to establish committees nationwide, including Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared the initiation of the procedure to establish new constituencies today, signifying a pivotal stage in readiness for the forthcoming general elections.
In its first phase, the ECP will establish committees for constituencies, encompassing the federal capital and all provinces nationwide.
Starting tomorrow (Tuesday), these committees will initiate the gathering of crucial data, which includes maps and population statistics.
Furthermore, a four-day training program for these committees will kick off on September 1.
From September 8 to October 7, the preliminary demarcation of constituencies will take place, outlining the fundamental boundaries for each constituency.
October 9 will see the release of the preliminary information regarding these electoral districts. This will allow members of the public and relevant parties to acquaint themselves with the suggested changes.
However, individuals with concerns or suggestions about the constituencies will have the chance to submit objections or recommendations from October 10 to November 8.
The commission has designated the timeframe from October 10 to December 9 for reviewing and resolving objections. During this period, the ECP will conduct hearings and reach decisions.
However, the final notification regarding the constituencies is expected to be issued on December 14.
