ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will hold a hearing next week regarding a petition aimed at removing allegedly “biased” members of the federal cabinet to ensure the upcoming general elections are fair and transparent.
The petition, submitted by Advocate Syed Azizud Din Kaka Khel, seeks the removal of caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and several other cabinet members. The ECP will hear this petition on October 10.

The petition specifically calls for the removal of individuals such as Ahad Cheema, Fawad Hasan Fawad, and former principal secretary to the Prime Minister, Syed Toqeer Hussain, asserting that their presence in the caretaker government hampers the transparency of the electoral process. The petition argues that these individuals should be removed from their positions to ensure a genuinely transparent election.
On the same date, the ECP will address various petitions targeting the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and its chairman. Among these petitions, one filed by Khalid Mehmood seeks the removal of Imran Khan’s name as the party chairman/head of PTI from the Election Commission’s records. Another petition from the same petitioner urges the electoral body to take action against PTI, alleging that it still receives prohibited funds from foreign entities. Additionally, Muhammad Awn Saqlain has submitted a petition seeking to declare PTI ineligible to obtain an election symbol under Section 215 (4) of the Elections Act, 2017, and other relevant provisions of the law.
Furthermore, a case regarding the reply to a show-cause notice and the personal appearance of Fawad Chaudhry in contempt of the Election Commission case is up for hearing on the same day.
