ECP has banned appointments and transfers at federal level

Process has been halted until formation of caretaker government

ISLAMABAD: Today, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a ban on all federal-level appointments and transfers, as conveyed in a letter addressed to the secretary of the Establishment Division.

The letter announced the ban due to the dissolution of the National Assembly (NA) and federal cabinet. It explicitly directed the suspension of all types of appointments and transfers until a caretaker setup is in place.

The letter also brought to the election commission’s attention the potential plans for appointments and transfers within ministries and divisions. As a result, it strictly forbade any such actions until the caretaker government is formed.

The letter specified that once the caretaker government is established, appointments and transfers can proceed in accordance with the law.

PM Shehbaz And Raja Riaz Decided Not To Reveal The Discussed Caretaker PM Names

Meanwhile, outgoing PM Shehbaz Sharif and Raja Riaz, have decided that they will not reveal the names discussed for the caretaker prime minister. This year, either Shehbaz Sharif or Raja Riaz will be overseeing the general election.

“It has been agreed with the prime minister that names will not be disclosed,” Riaz said after meeting PM Shehbaz. “Cannot say anything about the names under consideration. We have to deliberate on the names within three days.”
