ISLAMABAD: A bus overturned in the Fazilpur area of Punjab’s Rajanpur district resulting accident at least five fatalities and 20 severe injuries.
The bus, carrying devotees of a Sufi saint, was returning to Jacobabad from Sakhi Sarwar when the driver lost control and the bus turned turtle, as he had fallen asleep, according to rescue officials.
Immediately after receiving the news, rescue teams rushed to the accident site and transported the injured to hospitals. Those with severe injuries were taken to Rajanpur district hospital. While others were shifting to a local hospital in Fazilpur. Among the deceased were a woman and two children.
Dr. Aslam, the district incharge of rescue services, stated that the accident occurred as the driver fell asleep, causing him to lose control of the bus.
This incident occurred shortly after another bus tragedy in the Geeti-Das area near Babusar Top. Where eight people lost their lives, and several others were injured.
The tourist bus had plunged into a deep gorge and caught fire while navigating a sharp turn on the mountainous terrain on Friday.
Earlier, on July 16, six people were killed in a similar bus accident in the Thalichi area of the Diamer district.
