With the annual Hajj pilgrimage season approaching, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has revealed details regarding flight operations to facilitate the departure of pilgrims from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia.
These flight operations are set to continue from May 9 to June 9.
According to the ministry, the initial day will witness 2,160 pilgrims embarking on their spiritual journey through 11 flights.
During the first 15 days of flight operations, all flights will be directed to Madina airport. Subsequently, from May 24 to June 9, the majority of flights will head to Jeddah Airport, enabling pilgrims to proceed to the sacred sites.
On the inaugural day, 680 pilgrims will depart from Islamabad across three flights, while 330 pilgrims will take off from Karachi via two flights.
Furthermore, 670 pilgrims will commence their pilgrimage from Lahore through three flights. Flights originating from Multan and Sialkot will also commence on the first day.
The spokesperson additionally revealed that the first Hajj flight from Quetta is scheduled for May 11, followed by Sukkur on May 27, ensuring inclusivity of pilgrims from diverse regions of Pakistan in the departure schedule.
Overall, more than 68,000 pilgrims are anticipated to reach Saudi Arabia through 259 flights, according to the ministry spokesperson.
Emphasizing comprehensive planning and coordination, the spokesperson noted that the first flight returning home with pilgrims is slated for June 20, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of pilgrims throughout their Hajj journey.
